    SYM orbit125 VS Bug Agility125

Hey everyone, considering on buying a scoot for a fair while now and have come down to two options in the 125cc range.

SYM orbit125 or the Bug Agility125.

I have looked around this forum and various other websites and it seems like the Agility seems more reliable. I actually have not found any Orbit reviews apart from the one on ScooterSales.

MY dilemma is, I am currently a student living in Melbourne and working casually, so money is a bit scarce. These two scoots are both great for value (the orbit being cheaper) and fit my budget pretty well, I was wondering which of the two would probably be more reliable, taking into consideration of compartment space, top speeds, handling and fuel consumption (but can't be much difference, right? xD).

I'd be using the scoot to commute to Uni and work, pretty much everyday. Not sure of the distance, but its about a 20-30minute drive.

Oh and if anyone has an Orbit, mind sharing your experiences? And any links to more information about the scoots would also be appreciated.

     Thanks in advance :)

Re: SYM orbit125 VS Bug Agility125

My boyfriend bought an Orbit 125.  He fell in love with it the second he sat on it ^^  It's not insured yet, so he hasn't ridden it much, but on the test ride (using the exact same scooter that he bought) he found it was very quick to accelerate and easy to manouver - and he's not a small guy.

As for the Agility, I got my licence on one.  It was a good scooter, and I do like it's face, but my problem was that it lost drive very easily.  Not sure if that's the same with all Agility's or just the one I was on (can't test one here so I may never know if it was just a one-off - the place that sells them only orders them on demand, they don't have a demo :(  ), but it made slow manouvers very difficult.  It did handle the higher speeds pretty well (in the wet on the road drive part of the test).  It's really a matter of what feels best, so go test them both out.  We tested the Orbit and the VS, and I preffered the VS (storage, and leg space was better for me) but the other half preferred the Orbit (he thought there was more leg space on that one!) - so it really does come down to personal experience :)

SYM orbit125 or the Bug Agility125

I'm surpised this one hasn't come up a fair bit earlier. Both are very similar to each other Orbit has the price advantage Agility has the warranty, reliable budget scooting and both will do the job.

One thing about this end of the market is that buyers tend to ditch logbook servicing after a year or so which for quite a few people will negate the warranty advantage. It's one of those things with budget scoots, some see a long warranty like a contract.

The Agility is better. The Orbit is a good budget scooter, but......... Its cheap as chips. Do you want to ride a french fry, or a chip?

I definately understand that keeping the logbook is a pain, i'm trying to manage one with my car right now...-_-

Anyway, thanks for the replies everyone

I have yet to test ride them, but it does look like its favouring the Orbit at this point in time, only because its just so cheap. But I also take into consideration that it indeed is cheap and usually cheap stuff aren't of the highest quality.

But what can I say? They both seem fairly equal.

The price of the orbit is such because that is what the people want( I may be biast ) but there is the High quality we all expect from SYM. It's a great scoot.

Now you are being biased Wink

There is no way the Orbit is the same quality as the Taiwanese SYM, parked next to VS you can easily see the difference. I like how Tim put it to me once when I queried the lesser warranty "If you want warranty & quality then pay for it". Can't argue with that.

The Orbit allows budget buyers to get onto a brand that isn't flogged from a Container or sent in a box via the net, with reliabililty, parts backup & very importantly in todays environment financial stability.

    Haha, sounds about right! ;)

I guess the warranty would a nifty thing to have in the pocket, just to have piece of mind. But how likely is it that we'd need to take advantage of that warranty? What I'm asking is, durability of the scoots. I can only assume that scoots, compared to cars, don't have the same running life? And to add more to that question, the durability of the 'budget scoots' such as the Orbit?

Orbit is budget but reliable no frill Scoot, They are one of the scooters of choice for the Gold Coast scooter rental industry which says a lot. We have replaced two budget models with the Orbit. They don't break the bank or break down.

Not very but they have warranties for a reason.

Well thanks for the reviews/opinions. Think I'm going to go give them both a test ride soon. But the Orbit sure is winning my affection day by day. xD

     Hi Kjam

I notice that you haven't included the Piaggio Fly in your list of scoots. Is there any reason why? You may pay more initially but will save in the long run given the quality, longer servicing schedule, better fuel economy, ease of ordering parts, better warranty, resale value when you're ready to upgrade etc

Now to be found "working" at Ace Scooters (sales, accessories, coffee maker, dish washer, gopher and general stirrer).

    ScootaChic:
    ease of ordering parts

Sorry but Select have one of the best parts backup in the Scooter game.

    ScootaChic:
    better warranty

To compare the equivalent SYM product you would have to look at the VS125 with the 4 year warranty.

    ScootaChic:
resale value when you're ready to upgrade

2008 model of each taken from redbook.com.au

    • Fly RRP $2990   Trade in Value $1400 to 1600

... and if you are going down the VS route then the Aprilia SportCity One would be your choice.

But this is getting away from the cheap option.
