    Nolan N42 -- good helmet?

Wondering if any of you wears one of these open face helmets & can recommend it. I like the fact that (in pictures I've seen) it has a clear visor but also a tinted visor that can be lifted up & down, rather than having to be removed from the helmet entirely. The only thing I'm not sure I like -- on the basis of looks, which is superficial, I know! -- is the way the clear visor is so long. Guess that offers more protection than usual though.

    Hi Dakoda,

Yes, I'll do that. It's just that sometimes it also helps to have a recommendation based on longer term use.

What helmet are you wearing these days, Dakoda?

The N42 is fantastic. Both myself and Mrs Dozer have N42's and the little tinted visit is very handy. Mine is black, and the can be fitted with the n- com system. I highly reccomend them.

I'm not having a go at ya Dak, but a forum is a place where you share information, and compare thoughts on things. In this case, its an N42, and ColdCola wants to hear from people who actually have them (Me, My Wife and I think Brendon at HQ swears by them also), so that he can get an opinion from others as to what they are like. Of course your advice is to try it on for themselves, but that's not what was asked.

If someone asked what a SportCity 125 was like, you'd really want to let them know how you've found it, how much you love it, and your experiences you've had with it, cost, dealer relationship etc. You'd not tell them "Go ride it an see for yourself" eh? Wink

Cheers, only trying to be polite and not do the DakAttack on ya.

All of the Dozer clones recommend the Nolan N42.

That is fine, but the only way to know what a helmet is like, is try it for yourself.

That's how I made the decision to buy my new one.  With the help of Denni for a opinion on looks!

    Anyhoo

I use the N42 & love it, I've got the headset & bluetooth kit which is great but useless over 100km/h unless you have a screen. The can be a bit noisey over 120 but the Beo 500 has the adjustable screen so you can eliminate most of the noise. On the mountain run yesterday on the 200 it was fine, scoots without screen it can get noisey.

I just got myself (well the wife thinks she got me) an N42 today.....sweeeeet!!! I love the additional sun visor. Cool Whilst i've got an M2R full face for winter and longer rides this will be the choice for zipping to the beach this summer. If the weather ever sorts itself out Angry

Its our 30th anniversary coming up and i bought my wife a new necklace and bracelet. When she asked what she could get me, I said "Nothing dear we can't afford it after i got your pres."...Wink but she insisted so what was a bloke to do. Embarrassed I got off work early today so off to Helmet Warehouse and baddabing...new helmet.

I think it was a pretty good deal too (exspecially since she is paying).

Next i'd like to get the comms gear but wow that costs more than the helmet. I know imported helmets are a no no because of the AS deal but perhaps could look O/S for the comms gear? Anybody done this!!

Sorry for the rather longwinded and self indulgent post but very happy with the N42 and wanted to let you guys know Nolan have another satisfied user.

you do realise that Carl Williams got 32 years for his underworld dealings dont you?????

Hehehe, Just kidding mate, congratulations on the milestone. I've been married for 2 years, and It keeps getting better all the time. 30 years is worthy of a Nolan N42. I love mine, My wife loves her, and I think most people who have them would suggest they are one of the BEST open face helmets on the market for the dollar value. Smile

You'll need to get an adaptor or new power pack to suit Oz to recharge, make sure it has the recharge cut off & the right size connector... Just buy it here, you have warranty backup.

Thanks to everyone who has given their reports on the N42 helmet. It sounds excellent.

I think Dozer's right, too. This forum is a fantastic place to learn from other scooter riders, rather than having to leave it all to our own "hit & miss" experience. I became almost entirely convinced to get the Scarabeo 500 based on the glowing reviews I read here from several members, like Miketl, AdamTassell, Rodney & Allen (as well as ScooterHQ's blog about Darcy's journey). Of course, I also then took one for a test ride, which confirmed for me that everything they had led me to expect from this amazing Aprilia scooter was true.

I'll put my own "new owner" review up here soon, now that I've made it to 1000 km.

As for the N42....well, my birthday's coming up soon...
