My local store (unfortunately it's in Canberra) will have sales with 20% off the RRP of Draggins. Usually they notify people on their e-newsletter of the upcoming sale, so you can hold-off til then or sometimes go to a sale 'preview'. I heard rumours there are sales of Draggins at an oval/market somewhere in Melbourne, but perhaps they're not genuine??
I've tried on a couple of pairs of Hornee jeans, but on one pair a belt loop busted & on another pair the zip was stuffed... The kevlar didn't feel as thick, so not sure if that's good or bad. I have a friend who swears by them, but don't believe he's crash-tested them. For now, I think I'll stick with Draggins (I know various people who have crash-tested them & had no dramas).
I know of a couple of other brands who do kevlar jeans, Icon $130-$170, Shift $150-$200, Teknic $220. You might be able to pick up some of these brands online for cheaper than in a store... though I had a not great experience trying to buy some Teknic jeans through an American store. They charged my credit card, I waited a few weeks for delivery, nothing happened, I contacted them, they apologised they were out of them (no more in my size, ever) & then had to wait for a refund. The exchange rate had changed & I had to pay conversion fees to my bank twice! Not happy.
I ride a scooter, a scooter, a scooter.. Taiwan Golden Bee - yeah!
