Don't panic. You don't need to have the skills of Casey Stoner, just remember road rules, head checks, road positioning, positioning yourself in traffic, look up & around when you're doing u-turns & also look up & straight ahead when you're doing your quick stop. Try smiling while you're riding as it works to relax your body.

    Good luck!

Proper riding gear is ideal to show you're serious, however long pants, jacket, sturdy covered shoes will do the job. Given the weather today you might want to throw in a raincoat, sunglasses (in case you're given a helmet without a visor) & wet weather pants too if you have them.

yes you need to have an L plate on the back & front. Your dirtbike helmet would do the job, do you have goggles as well? Rain stings like mad when it hits bare skin or eyes. You don't want anything distracting you from the test, it's better to go over the top with the gear.

really? are you sure there was nothing else? It seems a bit petty for the examiner to have failed you just those things. Did you turn up to the test with an instructor? Apparently that helps a great deal

In WA, do you need to sit a test in order to ride a bigger scooter, ie, over 250cc, or is it one test for all?

    Hi Dean

it was good meeting you yesterday. It's good also that you're looking into licensing in order to go for a bigger bike, I do think it'll suit your requirements better as well as giving you more options for joy riding Wink.

In WA you need to have held your RE or RE-A, 250cc restricted, license for a year before being able to do the open (unrestricted R or R-A) license test. Interestingly I found out recently that it's possible to do the RE test on a manual motorbike then the R test on a scooter but still maintain the open manual license.
