    BIG SCOOTERS not maxi scooters

    Why is this forum called maxi chat, it needs to be changed!!!

    The term maxi brings to mind images of a womans maxi pad.

    The guys at scooter community need to change the title of this forum to big scooter chat or something similar...

    These days there needs to be a line drawn between big and small scooters.

    As in Australia there is no definition between big and small.

     wtf? it's an industry standard name.... I don't see it changing any time soon!

     If you put a Vespa LX50 next to a Bolwell retro, the Vespa is a "big scooter", while the retro is a "small scooter", neither are a maxi scooter (a scooter big enough to comfortably carry a pillion, go touring and carry all your groceries at 120kph on the fwy)

    i dont see anywhere else in the asian markets the industry standard name of "maxi scooter" for classing scooters.

    maybe it's a baka australian thing, and things can change.

    anyway, i am not talking about comparing different models like your narrow mind wants to do, i am talking about

    big and  small engine comparisions.

     a small scooter is below 249cc, while a big scooter is over 249cc

     The use of the name is maxi scooter is a worlwide standard in the scooter industry. From Europe to asia, america etc and even us in Aus we all use the name

    I have never compared the name Maxi Scooter name or style to a ladies female hygene product !

    Like JimmyLee said, Maxi is used all over the world to describe scooters capable of touring and maintaining highway speeds. All of the mainstream magazines use it too. There isn't a strict definition of what a Maxi is, any more than there is a strict definition of what a limousine is. It can't be based just on size or just on engine capacity, otherwise a Hummer would be a limousine and a 125cc Piaggio X9 would be a Maxi. In our Maxi group we have a LeGrande which is less than 200cc but goes on all of our long trips, at highway speeds, fully loaded, including overnighters, and often 2-up, so it's a Maxi. we also have a 300cc Vespa that has little carrying capacity and no windscreen, not a good tourer candidate, so isn't a Maxi. I don't think you'll get much support in trying to change the name

    i hate to burst your maxi scooter bubble, but having lived in asia for the past 3.5 years,

    I can tell you that the japanese factories producing big and small scooters available in the worldwide

    market DO NOT use the term maxi to describe any of their products.

    the term BIG Scooter is used by factory technichians and designers when describing products like

    the T-Max, Maxam, Skywave etc...and small scooter for the Lets2, Jog, Cygnus etc...

    they make their comparisions on engine size.

    having visited leading manufacturers facilities in japan and their manufacturing facilities in S.E asia

    i can tell you maxi is not a worldwide standard term..

    Silly us, we should have realized that even though Maxi is the common term in Australia, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Germany, United States, Canada, New Zealand and about everywhere else you can think of, because it isn't used in Japan it shouldn't exist. Do a Google for MAXITAGS, you'll see that the term is world-wide. Since we're on the Japanese subject, why do you think Yamaha call their Big Scooter T-MAX? Not T-Big but T-MAX. Suzuki's advertising calls the Burgman a maxi-scooter http://www.suzukimotorcycles.com.au/modeldetail.php?intBikeID=154 Yamaha's advertising re the T-Max calls it a maxi-scooter: http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/motor/index.htm?motor.asp Now that that subject is closed, let's get onto some important stuff, like who's buying the next round?

    "Maxi Scooter" did yield a result in www.google.co.jp

    YAMAHA BigScooterBlog ビッグスクーターブログ | 2008年01月

    Yeah, sure they're probably generally known as "big scooter" in Japan however the more travelled & worldly person would probably be aware of the term "maxi scooter", too.

    Skywave = Burgman

    Maxam = Morphues

    Forza = Reflex

    Same thing but different name ,no matter what you call them! isn't?
