    Colin the whale.

My household has been following the little champ for the past few days and we reckon its very sad. These are the days that we can send arseholes to the friggen moon, miniturise electronics, and genetically modify animals and vegitable, and we can feed a baby whale?

I think its deplorable that we didn't try something days ago. I think its a result that the NPWS is filled full of greenie do gooders that cant make executive descisions. Some people say "thats nature, thats just life" but look at what we are doing to the world as humans. We need to be saving these beautiful creatures instead of writing them off. I bet we could have put colin in a large pool, fed him, and then introduced him back to the ocean for less than we spend on Afganistan with our defence force in one day. Perhaps NPWS have a deal to sell his carcass off to the Japanese whalers.

    This country is bloody stupid.

I agree Doz,   I just watched a marine biologist on the Nine network's Today show.

He was one of those scientists who had been saying all along that an attempt should be made to feed "Colin",  as he was qualified to speak on this subject I accept his views.

I realise a lot of the people that wanted to feed Colin were well meaning individuals who could have actually harmed him,  but a marine biologist should have been allowed to act by NPWS.

     Grrrrrrrrrrrrrh

Well call me cynical, because I think if big money was involved we'd have one healthy little whale. If someone with a business brain was to publicly auctioned off the naming rights or a sponsorship for the whale (I don't care if he's called Benson & Hedges or Pepsi) and one of these companies threw a couple of mil into keeping him alive, it would have happened. The company would have had huge publicity, and the little guy would have had the best care available.

    Really disappointing.

It is. I agree 100%. No money in saving whales, they've probably auctioned him off to the Japs for dinner already.

bloody incompetence! a typical result of the brave new world mentality. "most of us wanted to put down the whale so it wouldn't suffer"...what a load of crap. it is better to have left the whale to die of natural causes rather than taking its life by needle.

i can't  believe there was not one person on this earth that doesn't know how and what to feed the young whale!   HA!  what about the japanese??? surely they know having caught so many of them for "RESEARCH".

IF YOU DIDN'T EAT THEM YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT TO FEED THEM !!!!!!

bloody hell why do the innocent always suffer at the hands of the incompetent !?

To just read the way they "euthanased" him, put a tear to my eye, they fucking murdered him in a horrible way, distressing him as they dragged him onto the beach. I'm so mad.

I agree with all the above comments and I commend ColdCola for posting such a post topic!!

Lets just hope, if this ever happens again anywhere in the world, there will be someone that will have the knowledge too do something about it, or at least given the opportunity too try!!

After all this (Colin) is a living creature, like you and I, and has just as much rights too live as any one off us do in my eyes!! Not too mention, Whales are the most beautiful creatures on this plannet. They are simply stunning creatures. We need too do everything we can too preserve thes gentle giants of the ocean!! And without being or sounding racist, (cos i'm NOT) I would like too say I HATE the Japanese for what they are doing too them, for "Medical Research" even more so its taken place in Australian waters, which also happens!! They shouldn't be allowed too get away with this!! God what annimal don't they eat?? Don't get me started on the Shark Finns Super Angry

In a shop here in Southport they have a T shirt with "Save the Whales Eat the Japanese" across the front. LMAO.

I didn't follow the whole story with 'Colin' but I am appalled with all animal cruelty.

    Re: Colin the whale.

I thought i heard somewhere very early on in the piece that the whale calf was still in suckling stage/age as I remember someone around at the time saying that no-one's got a titty big enough.  Sorry to make lite of that but that was then and I'd heard nothing again since so I'm thinking that wasn't the case. A cop out maybe??

I also saw (I think it was on your Brisbane TV news channelseven), that the whale calf was hanging round this moored sailboat's hull thinking that it was it's mother.   Well, move the bloody the sailling boat out to sea. Hijack it or something.

    Grrrrrrrrr!
