I have decided that I would do a running Review on our VS 125. I will try and put the little tacker through its paces and I will report back here. I just have to remember unlike a sports bike the goal is not to scrape the footpegs on cornering.
Virgin Run!
I wacked on
my new open face helmet and hopped on the well padded seat. Put the key in and proceeded to start the
Scoot. The first go of starting resulted
in a stall but being rather cold I warmed her up a bit. You have to expect it when it was minus 2
degrees over night.
Once she
was warmed up I turned onto the quiet street we live on and started to do a few
little exercises to see how she handles them.
Starting with a few tight figure eights and then a quick weave down the
road at speed. A quick test of how good
the brakes work and then I was off. Now
that she was warmed up and I was a little colder we took off down the hill and
around the corner into the back blocks.
Accelerating
quite well I was able to get to 60 km/h in no time along the flat. Even 80 is not an issue at all, to tell you
the truth you got to watch out she doesn’t creed up to far in the 60
zones. A nice cruise down the highway
through town and she handled all the little bumps and rutts that form on a busy
highway.
I turned
into the main street on a rough corner and the girl tried to get loose around
the corner, maybe I hit her a bit too fast. Sitting at the lights I have
noticed that there is a fair bit of vibration in the front section at idle and
standing still. This is not a large
worry but it is when you are trying to check out the hot brunette in the car
behind in the mirror. I found a parking
spot ready to drop in the mail and check for new mail. It stood up easy on the center stand and the
storage is easy to get into and place the helmet in for storage.
I decided I
would go the long way home and went along a single lane each was 80 km/h zone
that is driven but a large number of trucks every day. I got along there well at about 80 km/h and
spotted a B Double truck at the other end, perfect! Let see how she stands up to passing
traffic. I sat in about the middle of
the road while the truck passed me doing I reckon a few more than 80km/h and
apart from a sudden gust of cold wind the scoot swayed a hell of a lot less
than I thought. She stood up really well.
Whats Next……
Having a
Pillion on the back, dirt roads, strong winds and how many cans I can fit under
the seat!
