Aprilia sr 50 and honda @125

    Hi All

There is a 2002 aprilia sr 50 on ebay in Darwin - near me and at the moment it is going for around 700 dollars on ebay what should i be looking for on it with it ?

I called into the honda dealer and they have a workshop scooter a honda @ 125 which the blke reckons will probably be mine for 3500 dollars with a cheap topbox and the balance of the rego its a 2005 model with i didnt look at the km on itEmbarrassed - i could probably get a new vs125 for about the same money or even a tgb.  Are the honda's that good or not

The only dealers ive found in Darwin are the scooter shop - Bolwell, Honda - honda and nt motorcycle centre yamaha vespa and bug .,tgb and hyosung in Katherine which is near enough

                                                   Regards Mark

A Honda @125 is a premium scooter,  definitely a class above the Bolwell VS125 or TGB,  to compare the @125 you need to compare with the likes of the Daelim NS125 or Yamaha Cygnus 125.

If you can get a immaculate low mileage @125 for the same sort of money that new Bolwell VS125 costs, then personally I go for the @125.

The Aprilia SR50 on eBay is fairly old,  although I guess 7,600km is not too bad for it's age, given the overall condition and that the exhaust had already been repaired by welding suggesting that possibly a new exhaust might be needed soon,  I would not be wanting to pay more than say $1,000  assuming the motor is ok.

    Hi All

Thanks for the reply Motorrad, I don't see to many people raving over their honda @125 so i wonder how many they are selling.

The Aprilia exhaust is ok I had a look at it when i rode it Big Smile the only thing i had a hard time getting used to was putting my feet down as on the floorboards the are already flat, and the lag between throttle and takeup didn't help

                          Regards Mark

Because the Honda @125 is a premium scooter,  they probably will not sell as many as some cheaper scooters,  but I've noticed quite a few on the roads in Sydney and a number of them being used by scooter couriers.

If you have not already read it,  there is another thread that discussed the @125

Can you afford to buy both?

The SR50 would be a lot of fun assuming it's in good condition. Parst supply has sometimes been an issue with some parts for Aprilia's . I'm sure there is a thread in the archives about this and the SR50. The @125 is a great scoot from all reports and would have many years left in it, assuming the Kms aren't extensive and it's been serviced regularly.

I love my @125! Picked it up for $3500, with 2200Kms on it 05-06 model. Very to ride and impeccable build quality. Definitely go for it over the new cheaper scoots.
