Just been thinking about this and and thought that this is one big area I'd like to see a change but imagine trying to get it changed....Holy cow!!!
But here's the thing. It's not so much directed at scooter but those damn cages!!! And I imagine some of us are just as guilty from time to time, myself included so consider this. There are 2 options to remedy this.......
But firstly, plonk yourself down at your local fastfood restaurant and watch the drivethru. sometimes the delay can be as long as 5 minutes and on the rarity upto 8-10. It's happened to me. So all this time, unless they've "parked" the car with the delayed order, everyone is usually sitting there with their engines going and for what????? What exactly are we saving? Nothing except for the person not to get out of their car. You're not always saving time, certainly not saving the planet and you wouldn't be doing yourself any good getting takeaway food. (though some items now are much better than available in the past.
So the solution there is to get rid of the drive thru concept or mentality and encourage folk to turn off their cars and get out of them and walk the 20-30 feet before they tuck into a nice healthy burger.......
I'm not just shooting from the hip as I've worked in a fastfood establishment and can say some of the delays are just stupid. But I can't imagine anyone taking to deserting the drivethrus all together. It would be like trying to get blood from a stone.
The other option would be to "drivethru" no waiting with the engine running. Drive up to window, order & pay then be directed to a park bay where you can switch off your engine and wait. This then gets acces to cars behind that have only got small orders like a drink or a single burger and so they don't have to be held up behind a car that's waiting on umpteen dozen burgers and chips etc etc etc....
Which brings to light another option but encourage folk to avoid going thru the drivethru if they have more than 5 items to order. I can remember being held up behind a car when I was bringing home mummy and 2 tiddlers (Jordan had just been born and was finally coming home.) I was the only one that hadn't eaten all day and I thought I pull into the golden arches top grab a burger and drink for me and jayden would have my chippies. Well, we waited (I had switched off meantime) for this person in front who was finally handed 3 big bags of tucker then proceeded (by the looks of things) to be checking each bag to make sure he hadn't missed anything....
Anyway, that's just my little rant for the time being but I think it has some merit. (Granted not everyone is in a suitable situation to be able to park and walk in but if that's the case, have something at home....)
Shields up!!!!!
