Moto Mayhem Scooter Racing at Oran Park

    I've copied Vmoto's post ( http://www.scootercommunity.com.au/forums/p/2412/9330.aspx#9330 ) to here to save confusion.

    QUOTE

I thought that I would share the good news with all. Vmoto has been working with Moto Mayhem in order to get scooter racing included in the National Moto Mayhem series. This has all now been approved and Scooters will be run as there own seperate class at the 1st round of the Moto Mayhem series at Oran Park on the 24th of Feb. Depending on the success of the event scooters will look to be included permanently.

I would urge all of you to get behind this opportunity to take scooter racing to the masses and encourage the growth of the sport.

Entry Forms and classes are detailed at www.motomayhem.com.au

    END QUOTE

FYI, I've checked out the site & the scooter pdf entry form states:-

    5b  Scooters

Up to 55cc / 56cc - 125cc / Over 126cc open to all automatic scooters that consist of any brand that has an open foot panel area as standard manufacturer.

    Machines must have standard brakes.

Road racing riding equipment is compulsory.

All glass must be taped or removed.

    There's a Myspace site http://www.myspace.com/m0t0mayhem

Did anyone see any details about the circuit & race format for the scoots?  I'm asking here coz it could well be there, but I can't see it atm.

Just looked at the regs and I maybe wrong but the typhoon is able to run so if anybody comes up with a idea of how to get down there we should put our heads together and look at logistics.

Have checked the regs again and if its a scooter without glass you can run it so the mind is racing now, will talk to some people and contacts in sydney tomorrow and lets see what happens ,some representation from QLD would be a good thing.

Yeap the regs are really simple to get everyone racing.  It is great to see.  I don't care if I am racing a stock 50cc against a modified 50cc, it is about the racing and getting out there.

If driving my LPG Foulcan wagon with cruise control.  5 seats.  Usually 400k's per tank of 60litres....with loaded trailer could be as low as 300K's, so making 180 litres of LPG one-way from Brissy.

hey guys, Just a little thing of interest!  If you can got or can get access to a PS2 or Xbox, load up V8 Supercars 3.  In the go karts section of the game (which I think from memory is accessable right from the start, meaning you don't have to play it to unlock etc etc) and There is the Oran Park Go Kart Track to try.  Get a good view of corner approaches etc.  I wasn't sure about this as I don't currently have a copy of the game (used to...) but a friend who I use to race against with V8 SC3 via a network is pretty sure this is the case as he still has his copy.

I might try and get hold of a copy tomorrow and get some video for you .....

Got some vid but I had to attempt it a few times cause it was hard to vid but it starts pretty well straight away. You'll probably notice it's a little figure8.

Just had a look at the track map and not sure how it will figure in but it should be fun.

    Anyway, here's the vid.

Wonder how realistic the track is on the box.  Hitting 130-140kmh in the karts!!! Wonder how the 50cc scoot will handle it.....Awesome!!!

Re: Moto Mayhem Scooter Racing at Oran Park

My wagon is not well after the trip down to the Scooter Rally, & so not available for the trip till it's sorted.  Currently thinking ISC valve / oxy xensor, if anyone knows about cars.  The LPG played up when going there......climbing a hard climb the gas did the freezer thing on me, but it's always been shakey for hard towing even though I got an LPG guy to service it last year.

Main prob occurred on the way back when we missed a turn somewhere & ended up in downtown Surfers Paradise in all the traffic & heat.  All was ok till I gave the car a bit of a rest & some air with the hood up while Shel & I snacked at a servo.  Pulling away from the servo the petrol accelleration was dead.  Switched over to LPG & it ran lumpy as hell......felt like the car was struggling from thereon. It hadn't had a backfire, & so the vac lines were ok.   At higher revs it was ok, but still no petrol.  Was on the freeway, & it might have been the corrugations in the concrete road that's by Seaworld etc etc, but it felt like it was trying to do the lpg freeze again as though it was spluttering.....not really sure if it was dodgy.....might have just been paranoia.

It got up the Range ok on LPG.  Currently thinking the seldom full tank of petrol dislodged some crap from the inside of the tank & so a fuel filter is needed.  LPG is a bit lumpy, but not missing (like it would if a plug lead was shot) & so am thinking oxy sensor or ISC.   The car has a history of not holding any idle if it was a baking hot day......after holding the revs with the hood up it seemed to cool down whatever was heat stressed......always thought it was the elctronics of the LPG system as there's a bunch of relays & an LPG elec unit up the the top LH corner of the bay, & it's very hot there.   *shrugs*

It'd been quite a trooper going there....running hard on LPG or petrol.....no probs except for the one tough climb on LPG

    Ick!.
