Well I have had the Agility for 6 months but really on ridden it over the last 3, covering 2800km in the dry, wet, windy, heat but not yet the cold (not that it gets cold here in Brisbane).
I won't bore you with the technical specs as they are available on the Bug site but it is a 125cc with 12" wheels.
The main reasons I bought the Agility was the price ($2490 plus on roads but now $2590) and the 4 year warranty. Both appealed to me and I would have to say, for the first time ever, I did not really try any others out. Research was on-line with a friend having a Vibe and being very happy with it.
Now for me and the scoot.
Firstly, the seat height is great for me. I am a bit over 6 foot (186cm) and I comfortably put my feet down when stopped without "crouching" at all. My wife though, who is 158cm, has some issues with touching the ground but she is not a rider (yet) and it may have just been her technique.
There is plenty of legroom, knees only ocassionally touching the key and only touching the handle bars when doing very tight turns. Normal riding is great.
Seat is very comfy - I do a 56km round trip to work and back and there is no "numb bum" issues. Mirrors are also good size and well positioned.
Under the seat there is plenty of room for a full face helmet, I wear a large, and it fits no problem with some space still left for rain gear. The fuel filler is also under the seat so it is hidden away under lock and key. It comes with a small rear rack which accomodates a top box no problem at all.
Performance is great. I can sit on 80-90km/hr no issues at all. Haven't maxed it out yet but downhill it does get a little unstable over 90 with the usual slight shudder due to it being fairly light in weight and the smallish wheels. Large hills do bring you back to 60 but it feels strong all the way up to 80 and it gets there pretty quickly.
Throttle is very responsive, getting you moving pretty rapidly from the lights ahead of most. Brakes also do their job very well although the rears are drums and perform accordingly - they slow you down. This is not really a bad thing as the last thing I want is for the rear to be locking up.
Economy is good although the tank could be a little bigger. I think it is about 4.5 litre so filling it is a cheap experience but it does limit range a little. I have been getting around 140km out of a tank.
It is not too bad in the wind, weighing around the 100kg mark. It is a rather narrow scoot which reduces the protection a little but does give you much more confidence in squeezing through the cages at the lights. It is Agility by name and also by nature with cornering a pleasure, very easy to change direction, at low or high speeds.
Some negatives are the fuel gauge. The dealer and the service staff have indicated to me that there is an issue with the shape of the tank which does effect the operation of the guage. It does not seem to move for the first 100km or so and then starts to reflect what is going on. Not really a problem if you are like me and seem to be able to keep track of the km when you last filled it up. Or you just remember that once it moves, you need to be thinking about putting a little more juice in.
Another is the headlight. It works ok but seems a little dull. The specs say only 30w/35w so it is not going to blind any body.
Small issue I have when filling the tank. The seat lifts forward and does have some issues with staying up and wants to slam down on the nozzle and you. It may be because my top box moves the balance to the rear when on the centre stand but still, it is a bit of a pain.
Another issue is the service intervals. I am getting my 2500km service on Monday and i think they recommend servicing every 2000 or 2500km which is not much when you take into account that I do around 300km per week. I may need to discuss this with the dealer to see when it really NEEDS to be serviced.
Last small issue is the speedo. It seems to be with them all. It reads about 10% over what it really is. Now I am sure that means that they would not pass ADR but it is not a bad thing when it comes to happy snaps from the boys in blue. It is only really an issue when trying to keep up with traffic while not wanting to go over the limit by too much but you do get used to it.
Overall I think the Agility is a great scoot with plenty of room, plenty of power and only a few minor issues, nothing that would stop me from buying it again. With the new model out (mine is a 2006 manufacture), I am not sure what enhancements have been made apart from the small cosmetic changes.
There are a couple of other scoots on the market that can reach a better top speed but in reality, it is a 125 so if you need to sit on 100km/hr often, you really need a bigger scoot, both in size and capacity.
So, the bottom line is yes, buy one as you will not be disappointed but I have to admit that I have not ridden the competition so am a little biased. In saying that though, it IS a damn good scoot
Thanks
Scott
Wife first, scooters and birds second.
