What time do you reckon things will be happening for those of us who would like to spectate?  Bit squeezed for time on Sat but would love to get along.

Wife first, scooters and birds second.
    Got to remember that order......

Are there going to be ANY scooters there ?

I just checked the Sporties web site and there isn't any scooter races listed on the event program and no scooters listed on the riders list.

AND being a Saturday morning it's going to be difficult for any of the riders from the scooter shops to get there - We work saturday.

Entry Fee is only $65 per round, your already a club member so the only other cost would be a day licence $45 unless you have an annual racing license.

Looking at the Sportsmens web site the Youngstar series, which the scooters are a race class in, started on December 8th so this is round 2 - after this there is only 3 races left in the series.

    Saturday 9th February

    Saturday 8th March

    Saturday 12 August

    So what's going on ????

I think a much simpler format is required, 50cc,and 51 to 250cc just bring your scooter and as long as its safe and passes a inspection you can ride, motorcycle sportsmans will accept your entry fee and then everybody no mater what you ride your on the track,  If this was adopted from the beginning alot more people would now be well on there way to buying the correct ridding gear and not dreaming of having enough money to purchase a race scooter.

We dont have enough people in the area to exclude anybody at this, When things are at a stage where the grid is full then we set out classes and capacities, But untill that time arrives we are just disapointing alot of riders who think and know this is there only chance to compete on a very small budget, For them the goal posts are continualy moving and the sport just looks to hard.

Please we have had two rounds of a five round series and nobody has turned up yet, There are no exccuses for loosing the use of that wonderful track and the support of MOTORCYCLE SPORTSMANS we are obligated to support somthing that so many people on this forum talk so passionately about, The next round is february nine and i ask that we all turn up with what ever it is you have and let the fun begin, and i do mean fun there are no sheep stations on offer only the opportunity to do what we all talk about so often

I am kind of lost here. Is the sportsmen just holding this as a seperate scooter thing or is this the scooter race series that was coming?

Have the sportsmen just tacked the series into the regular running of events for them.

Would be great to get a set series with a set of dates with an approach that gets as many people into the sport as it possibly can.

Just to put this out there, I'm sure I remember seeing scooter classes on a previous listing with the youngstar series for Motorcycle sporties earlier in the year. Before I'd even found out about track nights with cyberbike. so I don't think this is anything greatly new but I could be wrong. and no matter if I am. It's here and now which is the focus.

Now a question.  I agree about the simpler format but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, I'd love the head to head with other 125s But for what it's worth, Rob's 70cc bandit was awesome running against it on the last track night I got to.  Some close running and I only think I got to pull away from Rob and throw some distance down as he was tiring.  I think it was the last or 2nd last session for that night.

On another note I think it should be limited to 200cc or even 150cc because with 250cc, someone is likely to bring out a derbi and smoke the lot of us....LOL!!!

So any other thumpers out there playing coy?

Not Coy Kstar, just wont be able to this year, which sucks because I'd love to tangle (not literally) with you on the track again asap. But it looks like I wont have the Monaco to ride for much longer.Crying

It's just a shame we dont all work for a scooter shop or have the spare $$$ for a dedicated race scooter in the garage to roll on out to Willowbank, because then there would be enough Scoots for the Sporties to give us our own nights of mayhem, not just an add on to their normal calendar.

I would love to race, but saturdays wont work with me, due to working at a bike shops it will make it hard. So there wont be a 70cc class atm untill numbers get up there?

Re: Race Meeting Round 1 - Scooter HQ, Scootersales, Vmoto, Shell & the Motorcycle Sportsmen

My opinion is that if this is going to get any traction I spose an event organiser needs to show some love. But on the subject of capacity really I think things like the the typhoon and eve robs bandit  that rocked up that saturday would beat most 250cc scooters out on the track as tight as that.

So maybe a race for each class and then a finally that sees all classes racing each other like production car racing.

I think you will be surprised what a 50,70 or 125 could do to a 250 on that track. If somebody rocks up with a 250 then its all brakes.

So really to get a full support event happening because i believe there would be lurkers aplenty just waiting for us to get things happening but at the moment I am feeling a little like scoots are getting the raw end.

But saying that i cant attend so i am just on the sideline commenting but this racing series needs to be for everyone and the each class gets a race and then a really fun total race with everyone and every capacity.  I would see this as everybody getting a go.
