    Middleweight Showdown - 200-250cc Comparisons

Does anybody know of a comparison between 200-250cc scooters? I'm thinking something that compares a Bug Hawk, Bolwell Firenze, Piaggio X8, Vespa GTS250ie, Honda Forza, Aprillia Sportscity 250ie, Aprillia Beverly (why the name!?!?). All these scooters could easily serve as a very good alternative to a second car and/or daily transport for work.

I know they are all different with some being a maxi-style and others more of a sports scooter. There are comparisons of 50cc and 500cc scooters on scootersales and individual reveiws of many scooters but I can't find a comparison of the middleweight scooters.

    Sounds like a Plan.

I think if they could break it up into segments Sport/Maxi Style that would be great, especially with all the new Euro 250 injected models coming out.

I currently ride a Honda Foresight 250 and am looking at the Honda Forza and the MP3. Went last week to see the piaggio X8 but the suicide stand put me off. I have found getting good scooter information from the honda dealer a little hard. They were unsure about any of the features,  I got more information from scooter reviews in the scooter mag. The scooter dealers are so helpful but I don't know of any that have Japanese, Italian and the other Asian scooters of this cc under one roof. Its so much better to see them in the flesh.

Yeah Denni, my father in/outlaw was interested in the Forza & we went to Team M*^# Honda at Nerang to ask & or look at it & they were hopeless. Definitely more interested in selling bikes me thinks, which is a shame because they are great scooters. He eventually got a Burgman 250, but the X8 was his favourite, but he was put off the Euro's by another dealer when I wasn't there.

He was also blown away by the value for money Firenze too.

Went to same dealer and walked around no one interested to see if I needed assistance, then rang partner dealer at Slacks creek. Told come up we have Forza see S#^* we will be able to give all the information you need. Rode up to find they had trouble finding the scoot, then didn't know anything about it or the smart key, suggested that I get info from Honda web site. Very disappointed to say the least. I enjoyed the ride up and back anyway, good to open the throttle up.

I don't know about other female riders but I find the scooter shops are a great help, on the other hand motorbike dealer or shops are a different thing.

Hope to take the MP3 for a test ride but think I will have to go to Brissie for this.

Still looking and having fun taking scoots for test ride!

I agree with your observations about scooter dealers and motorcycle dealers who have a few scooters in the corner. The scooter dealers know their product but the motorcycle dealers generally (not all) seem to regard scooters as a sideline to the "main game" of motorcycles.

    It's not necessarily a female thing as I'm a 6 foot, 95kg male.

For any advice, service etc, I will always go to a Scooter Dealer over a Motorbike Dealer anytime.

I had no choice in Isa, but as I became a regular customer I found the owner did his best to hlp me, even though I found at times I was more knowledgable than him (and being a female he accepted it well).  You will find the Scooter Only dealers are more passionate, knowledgable and understand than a motorbike dealer who sells scoots as extra business.

Hey -  although I've got a Nexus500 I must give the Vespa 250GT a plug, got one tonight as a loaner (Nexus in Service) and had such a ball of fun on the way home, it's really an impressive ride!!

In my brief 45km road test I found it to be more than comfy; switches/controls most easy to operate, mirrors you can really see out of too!; power - enough to get out in front at any lights I managed to squeeze up to (with the odd exception of a "P" plater with a GTR Nissan LOL ) oh - and nice & quiet with a nice note; brilliant headlights; roomy, although no doubt not as much as say a Burgman or similar, but, heaps under seat and in the front glovebox. Fuel gauge didn't seem to move, had half tank to start, still on half tank (I hope it works LOL).

But -  a very nice scooter, I can now see why so many people love them, like I now do..

Mate, so am I, us big buggers need something gutsy and roomy. How about we go up to see Muz as scooter central and get a pair of GTS250's eh?

You're tempting me Dozer. I like the X8 as well, same engine but more storage and protection.

Third child is due at the end of the month so we've just bought a new car to fit all the little critters. I'll leave it for now but if things go as I hope I may need to visit a Piaggio/Vespa dealer at the end of the year.

Hi I recently purchased my first scooter, a Honda Forza. It is very comfortable and has heaps of storage. The keyless access to seat and to start it, is quite convenient also. Great for commuting from outer suburbs of Melbourne.  I recommend that you try and test ride one somewhere if you can. I am keen to hear from anyone else who has a Forza. I haven't seen anyone else riding one yet.    A comparison list somewhere would be handy. I looked at all of the scooters you mentioned before settling on the Forza.
