If you look up at the sky tonight you might just see the scooter god smiling back at you.

Astronomers say Venus and Jupiter and a crescent moon will form a smiley face tonight, with the planets forming the eyes and the moon forming the mouth.

The best time to see the phenomenon will be about 20 to 30 minutes after sunset tonight. Best location is apparently WA, so get those cameras out, and post the scooter god here tomorrow.

 

 

I read about this - Hope it's a clear night. Mind you I'm not sure how good any pics will be on my rather crap camera

 

Not sure what its like over your way but im on the edge of town here so quite spectacular bright and clear pity the kids are asleep they would have enjoyed it took some pictures but didnt come out too well.

It looks pretty cool from Nedlands but there's way too much spill from the street lights to get a good photo.

'Twas spectacular here in Albury. Really made me understand how the Abos made up all those stories and stuff. "up in the night sky, there's a big happy spirit. The spirit of the scooter smiling down on the land. The spirit made all the people of the land happy and we all celebrate the scooter" The rainbow serpent must have been one kick ass storm eh? I enjoyed looking out at this phenomenon and for a moment forgot about terrorism, the environment, the economy etc. (spelling hehe)/

 Yeah - it was a great sight!  My girls were very impressed.  It took me an extra half an hour to get the little darlings into bed thereafter...

Too  much cloud in Sydney last night to see this clearly. It seems like every time there is something interesting in the night sky we get a cloudy night.

I'm very jealous!

 

Thats weird Cross, we saw it clear as a bell in Mt Annan(S/W Sydney) around the 8-9pm mark. Having another look tonight to see if it makes a sad face.....or 'O' face  :o

 Yeah, thanks for the heads up, Dozer.  When I read your post I was a little dubious as to how realistic your preview was but when we went outside around 2140 dst it was incredible.  Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod for the little camera and it came out all blurry and nothing like the lovely smiley face.
