scooter related.

Survive the Ride Association of NSW

A series of free workshops have been organised for those wanting to
gain a higher level of understanding on all things scootering.

The nights are aimed at providing information for both new and and
potential scooter riders along with those just wanting a refresher
course.

Topics covered will include;

* Risk Reduction Techniques

* Basic Scooter Maintenance

* Protective Gear Showcase

Plus all your questions will be answered on Sydney Parking, Tolls or
anything else you might have on your mind at the time.

See a range of Jackets, Gloves, Pants and Boots from leading
manufacturers including ixon, Zues, Falco, Spidi, Nolan, Rivet,
Draggin Jeans and Hornee Jeans plus many more.

The 1st workshop will be held on the 1st of December at Scootering,
310 Military Rd Cremorne (next door to McDonalds) with subsequent
workshops being held early in the new year in other locations across
Sydney.

Registration for the evening is required and you you can do so by

i'm keen for this, but will be in BROOME riding around on a 50cc (with my car licence) on 1st December.... but will email and register for one of the other nights.

 Still some spots left - get in now.

This was a good session. It was well organised, nice food, good experienced speakers dealing with scooter maintanence, protective gear and defensive riding.The audience were mainly newies and potential scooter buyers. I found the info from the scooter mechanic from Club Shed helpful as was the guy who talked about protective gear. The defensive riding talk brought back home the potential perils of scootering which is always important to be reminded of.

One of the sobering thoughts was all of these experienced motorcyclists had come off at some time in their careers which left me thinking about the inevitability of having a prang. This was ok for me because I can reconcile the benefits of scootering  with the  dangers, but I did worry about what the potential scooter buyers were thinking as they sat wide eyed while films of prangs went up on the screen. I bet a few were put off. It's a difficult balance selling the dream but warning of the dangers.

Despite this it was a couple of hours well spent. Good on ya Jax.

Are the other sessions on the website locked in??

If so, I might go to the February 2nd – Scooteria session, pending the shifts of course..

 Unfortunately couldnt make it last night, after 2 x 13+ hour days, at work, the wife wanted some of my time...could have got ugly if said  "I'm going !"

 This is a really great concept.  It should be adopted by the car license states to stop the Anna Bligh carnage.

Pete I'm glad you liked it - it seemed to go over really well and I had tons of people come up to me afterwards and ask all sorts of questions.

If you can think of any way we can improve - or a subject we should be covering - please let us know.

 i would realy like to come to one of these, however i work til 7.30pm every mon, tues and friday. if there is any chance of varying the days they are run i would like to know! they sound really good....

and before people suggest i take time off, if you can run the reception of a busy chiropractic clinic at our busiest time of day and cover for me, feel free to offer....
