Re: Mio / Vino Top Speeds

hi guys, thanks for all your replies and words of encouragement - i'm just so frustrated and all i want is my freakin licence and to be "legal" so that i can get out there and work it out! I'm really confused..... ,  i'm impatient also so it makes me cranky!  I've ridden them o/s - just let me out there!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It will eventually be funny when i do get my scoot because like you all say, you think you like this and like that, but it might very well change!!! WOW

Anyway, the clown will try to remain positive and get a good nites sleep - tomorrow is another day and i've got a bit of time up my sleeve till i'm legal.... you never know i might find a "bargain" between now and then!!!

    Over and out! Confused

what are your thoughts on this.....

    ET4 150 Vespa 02 model about 4000k's with top box for $4k

LX 150 Vespa 05/06 model about 6,500 k's with top box for $5k

Without seeing them it is a bit hard to judge they are upper values for the age so they would want to be nice & have a complete service history. No warranty left either but they are an ultra reliable scoot & shouldn't give you any drama.

    veggie:

i'm now starting to look around in the second hand market as my budget WAS about $3-4 when i first started!!

Yes but you knew nothing about scooters when you started, a bit of research has uncovered you may need to get a different style or spend more money to get what you want. Better than to keep shopping until you hear what they want to hear...Take your time do your research, test ride a few you'll find something you like & won't be looking for a replacement in 6 months. Nothing wrong in asking a few questions, there is heaps of experience on this forum & everyones happy to help.

To the list price of $5,790 you will need to add pre delivery & registration/ctp costs which vary from state to state. If you are prepared to go to this price bracket you can get a very stylish capable scooter like an Aprilia Scarabeo 125 for less ride away & it is technically a brilliant scooter. Much better value for money than the Mo or LX 125/150 as it has big wheels, disc brakes all round (linked), is liquid cooled & produces the same power as a lot of 200's allowing it to be used on the highway. There are a few choices in this class, because they are stable & well designed scooters they make great first rides these things are very forgiving. You won't "outgrow" one of these class scoots in a hurry.

i certainly don't want to be in this position - that's why i think i'm thinking along different lines now

that's impressive specs - i will look at this one too.

But, it is about the "look" - i'm a chick..... so until i can legally ride them i won't know.

He meant seeing them in the flesh.  To see what condition they are really in, as photos can be decieving, and will not show any underlying problems.

If my bike was about looks, I would never have bought the Yamaha BeeWee.  I had that scoot for close to 2 years, and I loved it, and it loved me.  I miss it, but I love my Aprilia Sportcity even more, only because it is more capable, better quality, set up better.  And no longer gets the ugly duckly sympathy looks

Give you an example of why I won't pass comment without seeing it. During our last big rain a person comes in with a bargain second hand scooter, almost new very low K's & they were totally stoked. Unfortunately we knew the scoot, it had spent over a day under water..engine full of dirty water all through the bearings etc.

Looked like a bargain but wasn't

maybe i could ask him for his mechanics details and speak to them about the history of the scoot - would that be a wise thing to do??  Because i don't know anyone that has any idea about buying scooters and what to look for and what not to look for to come with me to see if a 2nd hand scoot is a good buy or not??

With used its buyer beware, if a seller has something to hide they'll hide it allright.

I'd love to be able to give you some kind of advice on what to look for, but you really need experience mechanical knowledge & even then we get caught occasionally.

There are plenty of bargains out there & plenty of pigs too. The only way you get 100% security on a scoots history is if you buy new or an ex demo.

Re: Mio / Vino Top Speeds

We recently sold our WR400, now 2 months on, the guy has rang me to say he tried to get a road worthy and all sorts of problems have appeared.  Now we had a roadworthy before selling, and fixed what needed to be done.  NONE of what he states came up in this report.

I contacted him a month ago, as he had not changed the rego over, and it has taken him this long to get back to me!

Now for all I know he could be lying, BUT it is buyer beware.

This makes me sound like I sold hima  dud, but we did everything we needed, so who knows what he has done to it since.
