When I did my pre-Ls course there were 3 potential fails on the first afternoon, all on geared bikes (two on bikes that were way too big for them). Only one of the three ended up failing (part way through the second arvo). Afterwards she said she wished she'd booked a scooter, as she didn't have any other problems, just trying to coordinate the gears while also learning to ride. The two of us on scooters spent a lot more time practising the techniques, while the geared riders were practising gear changes, smooth clutch work, not stalling, etc. While we did have to wait a bit at each set of instructions, as ours were generally much simpler, it seemed to be a far less stressful experience (& I already drive a manual car & have had my licence a long time). Once you have your L's you can then choose to learn on an auto or a manual... good luck with it all. PP
I ride a scooter, a scooter, a scooter.. Taiwan Golden Bee - yeah!
