Well I have now had my Aprilia Sportcity for 6 weeks, and have done over 2000kms, so I thought it was time for a review.

    On looks:

Sexy is the word I like to use for the Sportcity.  Sleek, and attractive are others.

    On performance:

Well being a 125, I wasn't sure what to expect, after having a 100cc, I didn't expect much extra omph.  But to be honest, the Sportcity is a little surprise packet.  Top speed so far is 105kms, and had more to give.

My first thoughts were "wow this thing is stable", and as each km clocked over, I pushed it a little bit harder and harder, and with each km, it kept going, and going, and kept me thinking "wow, I love this baby"

With me being a shorty at 163cm tall, at first I was a bit concerned about the seat height of the SC, being 790mm, but the stability of the scooter has assisted in my shortness problems not really being a factor.  Also going from a Yamaha Bee Wee which weighed 90kg dry weight to the SC which has a dry weight of 148kg has been an adjustment, but that is something you adjust to with each ride.  It would weigh a tad more now with the top box, and bar ends which are now fitted.

I have ridden it pretty much in all conditions from dry, to rain and windy, and I find the scooter is a stand up performer, it sticks to the road like nothing I have ever felt.  When the first of the large wheeled scoots arrived in Australia, at first I was of the opinion that they were not for me, but now I would not go back to a smaller wheeled scoot, as the positives have far outweighed the negatives.  Not as chuckable into the corners (which is something I am learning, and have been told my 'Chicken Strips' are looking good), but being chuckable into corners is not as important to me as overall stability.  Not to say that this scooter does not corner well, cause it freakin does.  (I am just not the best corner performer yet, and am trying to teach myself to lean a little more... it's happening, and will happen a bit faster when I get my bum to some training... yes yes Brendon it will happen.  Someone give me a voucher for xmas).

Now that Aprilia are no longer brining the Sportcity into Australia, as their current form (Sportcity One, and Sportcity Cube, are the new 'versions'), I am even happier to be a proud owner of this scooter, as I can proudly say, I am one of only a  few hundred in Australia who got the priviledge of not only riding one of these amazing babies, but owning one.  So if you are umming and ahhing about getting one, now is the time, while you still have a chance.

I would like to officially welcome Armani into my home, he is here for a long time not just a good time.

I am sure there will be people who will love the look of the One, and Cube over the Sportcity.  But personally I feel the SC has a more classier look, but that is not everyones taste.  So to me it's a shame they are not keeping the current design.  But the Rambla is its replacement, and that is one hell of a scooter.  (Identical to SC, just differs in looks)
