Re: Nod from a dirt bike rider!

I've had a fairly good amount of nods in my short time on the road. Funniest thing was a guy on a big sports tourer shaking his head when he saw me tucking behind the fairing pushing it in the twisties haha.

Re: Nod from a scoot rider!

I got my first nod yesterday, someone else gave me one ( I reciprocated, of course) and it gave me a buzz for the rest of the ride home. A guy on a scooter heading up Carillon ave Camperdown, at about 7.15. Cheers buddy if you're reading this.

Of course, the two others I saw and nodded to didn't return one, but  it didn't matter.

I reckon a lot of the 50cc (in Perth) only ride a scooter to commute with so they don't notice or care about other riders.

No offence... but that’s just bull. In fact i reckon some of the 50s are the most passionate ones!

I prove it if I ever see you on the road… cause I tend to node, beep and wave! Big Smile

I am usually to busy concentrating on what is going on in front of me, than to look wether someone is nodding at me.

I generally dont nod unless nodded at, as I find there are a lot of people out there who just dont care.

But hey if you can get a good nod ratio, go for it.

I don't usually see a "wether" when I'm riding unless I'm riding in sheep country,  then I do look out to see whether there are any "wethers" around Wink

My point is I am concentrating on what is going on ahead of me, instead of looking at the other side of the road.  And I dont initiate the flippin nods!

New question- is it Ok to nod at a Postie on the job, or is that a no-no, like patting a Guide Dog when it's out with its owner?

Do postie/ Dominos nods count, if one were keeping a tally?

It is ok with posities.  DOn't know about the dominos riders though, I am sure half of them don't even have a license.

yeah why not?  They are out there delivering all our xmas cheques, and riding a bike.  I have the belief of keeping your postie on your good side.  Like your garbo!  I complained about mine dropping my bin and cracking it, and from that day onwards, it was always left in the middle of my street!

Re: I've yet to receive a nod!! :(

Just back to the nod for a sec (reminded me when I saw this thread) .... I rode across sydney the other morning and pulled up beside three bike rider one being a GPX 250 with the guy with all the gear on. What amused me was the fact I pulled up said Hi and got totally wiped. Just a turn of the helmet and nothing. I mean totally wiped.....

So imagine when ive done it once , then twice and third time over nothing.....

Now ive ridden many a bike on the road and the scarabeo shes not small and it was even funnier when i blew the gpx off as he revved the guts out of it.

So I feel a bit cheated and my general happiness was not taken as reciprocal

But Im bigger then that and I will continue to nod and get wiped no matter what. Im all for the Nod !!!!

Many of the posties around here also do a spot of teaching out at Stay Upright, so I'd say 'nod' just in case you get one for your P-test. Although the ones I know also all ride 'big' bikes, so maybe they won't nod back to scooties... worth a try though. PP

Don't nod because you expect a nod in return

Do nod because you're having fun on your scooter, you want to express the joy you feel & life is good!

Who cares whether you get a finger, a shake of the head or no response at all? If they give you any of these then laugh at the buggers because they're so precious & uptight.

I'll nod or wave to anyone who shows any interest in the scooter. I love the scooter, I love riding the scooter & I love expressing the enjoyment that I get from riding. I'll often find myself grinning from the moment I leave home to when I arrive at work because, once you overcome the economics & ease of it, this scooter riding is FUN!
