Performance for my 2008 Bee Wee

I just purchased a 2008 Yamaha BWS (Bee Wee)

I'm located in country VIC and want to hot her up a bit but don't have the mechanical brain to do jetting etc..

I'm looking at ordering a Gianelli Sprint exhaust as I've been told this will increase performance without the need for any other modifications.. Is this true?

Has anyone out there got any handy ideas of how to get the most outta my Bee Wee without the need to travel to a metro scooter mechanical shop..

     Cheers.

Re: Performance for my 2008 Bee Wee

Until recently I had a 2007 Bee Wee.  Loved it.

Wait until you have your first service on it (1000kms) before you do any 'hotting' up on it.

The Bee Wee is a great scooter as standard, and doesn't need much done to it.  but there are some options which you can use.

There is a member who put a pipe on his, and I am not sure what else, and he got some extra grunt from it.

Also if you have the fatty tyres, change them over to the Conti Twists, and they will give you a much nicer ride as well.

I also have to ask.... what colour?  Mine was red :)

Does this scooter make my bum look fast?

Then you miss out on the fun of riding a modified scoot that is stamped with your personality.

Two strokes are very popular for modification as they respond well to small and cheap mod's.

Yes & No, you don't need to rejet with this pipe but without fitting the Malossi  variator kit it accentuates the BeeWee lag on take off.

It's not a hard job if you're handy with tools. If you associate the word tool with idiots rather than screwdrivers & spanners then you'll have to take it to a shop.

Re: Performance for my 2008 Bee Wee

Hey there... I have a 06 Bee Wee that has 4500 kms on it.. Congrats on a good purchase.. It is my 3rd scooter and by far my favorite.. Is the 08 a 2stroke or the new 125 4stroke I heard Yamaha was going to use?

I would agree that do nothing ( other than decals:-} ) until you have done 1000kms.. Your scooter will naturally preform better once you get around that mark.. My scoot , which I affectionately call " Super Bee ", has had the following "mods" done....... Malossi 125cc kit,  Malossi  variator kit as well as the Gianelli Sprint exhaust that you have/getting.. I would agree that there was lag at low speed until last week when we installed a Mallosi Delta Adj clutch.. Now we have reduced lag to real low speeds, around 10/15 kms and then the bike takes off.. Pipe great place to start but variator WILL help as WILL the clutch..( if you don't do these expect some lag on take off. ) That is my latest addition to my Super Bee and as such it will need adj as it settles in... even so, I can now get my front wheel up and hold it.. the Malossi clutch bitting better than the original is definitely helping there :-}  I not mechanically minded but do feel that if you have a friend that is you should be able.. Parts can be shipped to you from  places like  Scooter HQ,  I would think, or I am sure that Scott  @  Scooter Style up here at Noosa, Qld can help.. He did all the work on my scooter and I have found him to be very helpful and able..

@ the same time as the clutch we tried 2 different adj shocks on my scoot. I am a big guy @ 110kg and the negative that i do have about this bike is the ride.. It needs, in my opinion a shock that has better dampening.. you will be 10m after a bump but still bouncing... I do sit back on the seat, putting my weight more directly over the spring. If you take ya scooter off-road ( what fun it is ) the system does seem to work better. Problem we had with both shocks was that it was bottoming out, the first one while turning and on driveways and the second while sitting on it..we tried varries adj on both units but had no real success.. So far that is the only mod that did not make a difference and we reinstalled the original shock..

Set  a new top speed on my little Super Bee last week, was able to sit on 110km/ph, and I will have to admit, that was wind assisted but on a flat road. The 2 stroke engine does take well to the mods and i have increased torque as well top end, and all going to plan, a carby will be next, unless someone can suggest a solution to my suspension problem.. I do believe that different tires will change the road feel / noise.. any one used the SAVA sticky tires, they seem to be mentioned almost as much as the conti twist..Will be doing the tires @ my 5000km service..

    anyway S26... hope this gives you a couple of ideas on how to get more out of  your BWS... oh yeah... go bush... :-}

What carby are you thinking of? I have massive issues with choke and flooding now and then, usually after re-starting when warm. So i am thinking of upgrading carby.

Did the 125 kit increase much? i.e. was it worth it? I was told i would need different pipe, but from what you have said it does not, the sprint fits the 125 kit.

    Super Bee 100:
    Set  a new top speed
i have the same pipe fitted and have hit the 110 mark (down hill and tail wind). Felt good. Just no good up hill. Hopefully Malossi variator will fix that.

Any other mods you thinkning of? and can you tell us how much it cost. Email direct if you like.

if anyone cares lol - hit a new top speed for the bee wee yesterday. just over 110km/h on the flat and no wind wooooo. no mods and i weigh 82kg so it is possible with a good throttle hand :)

Mind you i would love some relevant mods to increase 0-80 acceleration , and throttle response.

Weights and a muffler are where its at apparently.

    How accurate is your speedo?

    More likely to be 100.

could very well be 100. Could be 80km/h lol. All i can tell you though , is at 80km/h my speedo is prettymuch equal to my gf's car sitting on the same speed. Also that at that "speed indicated" i was travelling quite abit faster than the surrounding traffic in a 80km/h zone. Anyway it was abit of excitment in an otherwise dull day.

Modern, Just chill!! it's not everyone's cup of tea but for some it's to do with feel maybe or just to achieve something. I'm riding a an Agility that use to be 125cc and is now 163cc.  So why would I want to lash out another 3-4 grand for a scooter that's already that capacity? and may not handle anywhere near as well anyway... Well, I'm used to the Agility and love it's handling and now it's wheel standing torque and if i didn't need it so much as my commuter would be doing some more work to commit it to the track.

As to the achievement, I've just finished rebuilding my first 2 stroke engine and can't believe how easy it was to go together after following all the hints and tips and guides. So I'm pretty chuffed and look forward to see if the end results equal to my sense of achievement. Plus I'm learning something

So if it's not something you get then why poke your nose into a thread like this and rattle your sabre.

    Just a thought......

    Speedfight2:
What carby are you thinking of?

Seems that the 21mm Mallosi carby is looking like my choice (recommended by my scooter store, and seems popular choice on the net). The factory cardy has 14mm jet, from what I have read, so with the larger 125cc capacity the advantage of more fuel/air entering the mix should increase engine performance.. Im not sure if, for yourself, without the 125cc upgrade it would be necessary to go up that much in carby size?

    Speedfight2:
Did the 125 kit increase much?

As a package, the upgrades done to my scooter work REALLY well. Each mod has given their own advantages over original, but it is when they all come together that it stands out. I found that until we installed the Malossi "Delta" Adj clutch (last week) lag was a issue for me - even with my Malossi variator.. Try the clutch to solve that problem @ around $200 + fitting it was worth it for me..

    Speedfight2:
the sprint fits the 125 kit.
Yes it does.. I got that set up man...

      Really want to improve ride, so will keep trying to find a rear shock that works for me... keep you posted on that one... Reading about Malossi Primary gear kit @ the moment, believe it will also help with acceleration -  reduce lag... will be doing the Kevlar belt @ my 5000 km service, don't know if I believe that will make a big difference - but not that expensive..nor will be the LED's :-}

Throw some Conti Twists on it, and bring on the corners :)
