modified 2-stroke life expectancy and time between rebuilts etc.

Hi first post. Sorry if this has been covered - i couldnt find it.

I am looking at getting a scooter ASAP. I have some questions that will hopefully make my decisions easier:

    1) I want my scooter to always hold plus 60km/hr everywhere. I understand that the carby can be re-jetted with larger jets and a washer gets removed from the transmission. I am very intrigued about big bore kits. Would installing a 75cc or 80cc or 85cc BBK on the scooter cause me to be pulling it down every second weekend? or would it be pretty right and last for years?

    2) I hear arguments for and against 4stroke and 2stroke scooters. On the power side of things, which scooter would go fastest and have the best pickup after being modded equally? And which would i have less issues with running mods? Which would be cheaper to run overall (including repairs, maintenence)?

I realise that there are probably different opinions on these questions but i would be interested in hearing as much info as possible.

    Cheers

A quality big bore kit will last as long as the factory one,  personally I'd avoid the cheap "e-Bay" kits as the quality is unknown,  stick with the likes of Polini (spelling ?) and you won't go wrong.

A 2 stroke will give you a much greater increase in performance when compared with spending the same amount on a 4 stroke.   Two strokes do require rebuilding much earlier than a 4 stroke,  but they are usually a straight forward simple rebuild and heaps cheaper than rebuilding a 4 stroke.

With the 101 I think you are limited to tecnigas. Gianelli don't have a system.

I have been told that, the next r is a for lack of better words; *** ... the are 150aud ,ex uk OR aud or 300 direct from Australia but 300 is huge for a pipe if its not so good isnt it? I cant wait for a recession prices will be cheaper and what they should be... pm tuning is the place to go by the looks of things, Cheers

I had the next on my scooter

First it was a scp runner then on my aerox

I found it to be a reasonable pipe

I think you have morini engine on your scooter so it will not fit

Wax - Gianelli have the Next, Tecnigas have the Next R

I wouldn't say the tecnigas is bad, far from it. In the Next V Next R we have had better results from the Gianelli Next, has a larger expansion chamber. Plus the Next in oz is RRP $242 the Next R $295. Can't understand why the tecnigas is more, it is the same importer for Gianelli & Tecnigas now too.

Ok cheers, also what is the go with the 70cc kit malossi or polini i have read that the polini kit is longer lasting ie: lower revving, less power.

What would you reccomend ? set up wise and parts to use.

    Cheers
