50cc scoot - make my choice for me!

Hey everyone, it looked like you didn't have enough "what 50cc scooter to buy" threads, so I've gladly obliged and started another one Wink

I had a Vmoto Milan 50cc for about 3 1/2 years, and was quite happy with it (although it had it's issues).

It was zippy off the mark, and would easily hit 60km/h before leveling off.

I wasn't aware of restrictors in scooters, but I don't like the idea of spluttering at 50km/h, so I'll be fixing that after I buy it. Not planning on going nuts, but happy to make it to 60km/h.

Scooter got stolen, so I'm buying another one (at least it was insured!) but I think I'll go for something else. I love the retro look, but dont want to pay heaps as I don't use the scooter as much as I used to as I have a work car.

    Choices:

TGB 101r for $2k ride away

TGB 101s for $2k ride away (with free helmet and top box)

Bug Vibe for $2.4k ride away

    Today 50 for $1.5k + ORC (I think)

    Zoot 505 (price unknown)

    Benelli Pepe (price unknown)

I really like the look of the Benelli, but does anyone know how much and where to get them in Adelaide? Also, is it easy to derestrict these?

If not, would be leaning towards the 101r or 101s. Is there much of a difference or is it just the looks?

Also, are there any scooters worth getting second hand, or are they generally not worth the trouble/not much cheaper?

Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Cheers Big Smile

    Best advice you can get.

Get to a dealer, get on them all, and test ride.

Riding them wiill make the decision for you.  No one else can make it for you, you cant go by looks alone.  Getting on and riding, you will find which ones you dont like, and then narrow down the ones you love.

Does this scooter make my bum look fast?

Here is a dealer of Benelli and TGB in SA.

    ScootAround
    581 Tapleys Hill Rd
    Fulham , SA 5024
    Phone: 08 8353 2888
    Fax: 08 8353 2899

The 101s and 101r share nearly everything, it is just the r looks more road going.  3 year unlimited km warranty too!

I highly recommend checking out the Pepe, it is a seriously nice scooter and for I think $2200 plus on roads for the retro looking model, one wont walk past it without buying it.  It is that nice!  More on it at the Benelli Website and at ScooterSales.com.au

Re: 50cc scoot - make my choice for me!

Ended up getting a black Benelli Pepe Big Smile

    Same as this one:

$2700 on road with 6 months rego and the top box seemed OK to me (probably should have negotiated the price, meh)

It's not as quick off the line as my V-moto, but it sure is smooth to ride. It was the one I really liked the look of, had a 2 year warranty, and I'll get the limiter removed so it'll hit 60 and I'll be plenty happy. Looks like a very expensive and stylish scooter. Am picking it up Friday as they needed to order a helmet for my big head! I'll post some more info once I've given it a good ride, and compare pre to post delimiting. Friends still have the V-moto Milan, so I can ride that to refresh my memory for a comparison.

Very nice scooter the Pepe is.  Well done on your purchase.  You will have many years of happy riding.  It sure will be a head turner.

The Benelli Pepe especially in black is a great looking scoot and I like the way it will stand out from crowd.
