 Looking for advice from owners of the VS125 - how well does it handle 100km/h?  I'm not looking at extended trips, the bit I'd use goes for less than 5/10 minutes, and I wouldn't be doing it every day.  Once a week at most.  Please give me your thoughts!

Abba-solutely no worries handling 100 kmph.  Getting to it is not a problem and I have no problem keeping up with traffic, in fact I was on the expressway the other day and I was overtaking people with ease...I was prepared to just stay in the left lane and stick there but I just found myself catching up too easily to car in front!  It did get really windy at times though which just made for some really exhilarating riding...although that's something any scooter rider would experience and not just particular to this scoot.

 Took my VS for it's first service last week and the mechanic (who mainly focuses on motorbikes) was very impressed with it.  Not that I need his validation but it was nice to hear all the same :)

No problems at all. Will happily sit on 100km/h for an extended period. If its windy it can get "interesting" however. (But thats the same for any bike.

I drove behind a VS 125 on the Eastern Freeway - Eastlink road system here in Melbourne. It was travelling at a steady 95 kph, in the left lane, for the 10 mins or so before it pulled off the tollway. My vehicle has GPS and an accurate speedo. So the VS125 fits your speed requirement.

Now my scooter is a SYM HD200. The taller wheels make for a more stable ride at high speed than the VS125. Its speedo is over optimistic. For instance 100kph is 92 kph and 60kph is 54kph. I have had it up to 110kph indicated. I have added a Givi windsreen and find the whole fast riding thing far more enjoyable. No wind on the body and a quieter more predictable ride. Great at low speeds too. I guess, choose the scooter that fits your body best. The VS125 has a lower seat height and was a bit cramped for me compared with the HD200. I am 183cms. The VS125 is a similar weight to the HD200 and is a touch wider. In reviews that I have read both scooters come up very well.

I was travelling in an 80kph zone and thought i was doing the 80 limit but alas i glanced at the speedo and was doing just under 110! and the bike seemed fine hence why i thought i was doing 80. just for reference im 80kg and my scoot only has 400kms on it. regards.

Yes the are a very capable scooter i have found.

 I was also worried about their possible lack of speed but have been very happy with mine since i bought it a couple of months ago. Im a bigger guy also at 100kg and im 6' 4" also !

 Last week i doubled my mate on the back on mine and he weighs about 100KG also ! the VS did a great job on the freeway sitting on an easy 90km/hr...sure took a while to get up to speed but once i was there.. NO PROBS

 Nikko: I was looking at the HD200 as my first choice, but it's jumped out of my price range now unless I want no safety gear at all :(

I'm going for my QRide in about 2 weeks and then it's on for test riding anything and everything I can get my hands on ^^  If the HD200 suits me better than the VS125, then I'll just have to save that little bit extra.

Best of luck Sahatiel. no doubt with your questions & research no matter which bike you choose you will be happy with it. Unfortunately there isn't the one perfect bike out there which has all the features that would make it ideal, not for me anyway, so sometimes it's a matter of "settling" for a particular bike & enjoying it for what it is. You will enjoy it too!

If every bike was equal and perfect, we would all be riding the same bike.  But instead we have to find what best suits you!

Good luck with your test rides. Remember its on you if anything goes wrong. I just took the plunge once I had my learners permit. I was riding the HD200 the next day, straight home on the back streets. My only other riding experience was a Honda Lead at the riding school.  So I thank forums like these and review sites for assisting me make an informed desk top decision. And dont forget to negotiate. I got $500 of the list price 2 months ago (so $4000 plus orc).  But you are right about keeping some cash for safety gear. Please keep us up to date with your progress.
