Hi!
I`m new to scootas and the site and thought I would say g'day to everyone! I picked up my first scoota on Sunday (thanks Cam). When I say "first" scoota ... I actually mean my first ANYTHING on 2 wheels... should I admit I can't even ride a push bike? ... so when I did my Learner Bike course a few weeks ago it was my first time on a scoota and don't ask me how, but I managed to stay upright and got my licence!
When we unloaded the scoota at home I jumped into my riding gear, turned the engine on and managed to move 3 feet and still stay upright WOOHOO... mind you, I do need to get the shovel and fill in the two grooves in the drive way where the heels of my boots dragged along the ground on either side :) I just wanted to comment that I think I have a MAGIC scoota... suddenly all the little grooves and rocks in the gravel of my drive way turned into 6 foot deep craters and towering over hangs! Oh the joys of living in the country... it was raining to ... I have MUD on my shiny black panels!
After a few practice runs, the feet came off the ground and I actually made it out onto the road! Lucky I live on a quiet street so lots of room for practice :) After umm.... hmm.... 26 laps up and down the street, I packed away for the night... the rain got heavier and I didn't want to risk slipping while I am still so new! I dragged it out again after work last night - definately a magic scoota, the ravines in the driveway increased to 12 foot deep after dark! (Of course that may also be related to the run off from the rain haha) I kept replaying my driver instructors motto "look up... look up" ... how the heck do you look up when you can't see anything outside the beams of the headlights?? I assume there are street lights in the city... but in the country you don't see nuthin haha. Oh well, I guess that is what practice is for!
Thanks to anyone who made it this far through my first post! Hope to chat to you all online!
Happy Scooting,
Cheryl-Lee
