    SYM Orbit from SYM

thought we should just chat about this scooter as a topic. Prices for budget scooters are on the way down to a point where it is now very affordable to own a scooter.

today we see the release of the SYM orbit in a 50 and a 125

    50 cc orbit is $1690

    125 cc orbit is $2190

Being from SYM would would have to think the quality is there so this has got to be the start of big budget scooter sales i would think.

For a scooter of such quality these prices are amazing.  Something you would expect from the crappier brands (no names mentioned).  No more excuses for not getting on your bike!

Does this scooter make my bum look fast?

is the Orbit aimed at the entry/budget level before the VS125? or is it meant to compete against the Fly or Agility?

At that price I would think so.

It looks like it. There are a few 100-125cc scooters now from $2,000 to $2,500. Fly, Agility, Orbit, Lead, and many others

yeh there are now lots between 2190 and 3290 basically. The main comp for this scooter in its 125 capacity would be scoots like the agility you could say but really its in comp with every budget scooter on the market including maybe lunching some of its own VS 125 sales. The key for this scooter is will it create a new market , a market of people not really thinking of getting on a scooter but now want one because of the price. Maybe not lots of these people but might be a few.

So really its another budget scooter to make a choice between. This SYM wont have a few of those nice VS features so i dont think it will stop people from choosing the VS 125 anyway, its more budget then a VS for sure

The 50 being a 4 stroke unit is again right in the Zip 50 line of things i would say. Being 4 stroke it will again fight on price. Those that prefer the 2 stroke units will still have a point of differentiation.

The big thing is that the budget sector has just gotten hotter, on fire even....

I'm trying to get my wife on a scooter and with prices like those of the 125cc there is no longer an argument about the cost I would think.

If you have time to hesitate, then you're already too late. Ride safely everyone.

Quite a few of us SYM/PGO/Bolwell/Select dealers have been asking for a budget no nonsense scooter to compete against the cheapies that the Aussie market has had thrown at it. This is what the crew @ Select have given us.

    Solid, basic & inexpensive.

    Thank you Select

It has the looks.  Husband has just received a $5,000 payrise so at those prices we can buy 2, and not have it affect the budget lol

They look good, and hopefully the quality will be up to SYM standards.  Note that it is currently only being offered with a 1 year warranty.  However I fully expect that this may be only until Select are confident that it matches the rest of the SYM product set, and that will only be proven through time.  The quality of the standard SYM products is exceptional, and I expect that they won't put their name to it unless it is comparable.  Can't wait to have them in store!  The 125 in particular is going to throw the 125 market wide open.

I have a Jolie and am delighted with it even thought it was stolen and recovered with front panel damage and ignition.  I am looking for a price of a new panel and ignition and steering lock.  Have had a telephone discussion with a dealer in Perth and he said it would be around 800. Seems a bit steep to me...what do you think Steve?

They are a great little bike. I had a very jollie time riding one as a hire scoot around Darwin city & surrounding suburbs while on holiday last year. It was a nippy little critter which managed up to 80km/hr.
