    Scarabeo 250GT or Scarabeo 250ie

OK I have heard that there are some differences between the GT and the ie, can someone who knows or has ridden both please explain!  As far as i can figure out the GT is older and a different wheelbase, does anyone know how they both ride etc.  I have ridden the Beo 500ie and it was amazing,  but i need to only get a 250 version of the Beo...

Is there somewhere I might be able to compare the 250GT, 250ie and also the Piaggio Beverly...

What would people here rather own to ride around, I do about 20km each way to work on 80km/h road but plan on only using my scooter to get wherever I am going, so will involve lots of freeway etc, plus I plan on doing LOTS and LOTS of trips around this great state of ours!! (WA)

This is a very interesting question.

I am also comtemplating between Scarbeo 250ie and Sportcity 250ie.

Can't wait to see people's opinion on this.

    Cheers.

There are some reviews in here somewhere about the differences.

From what I remember the Scarabeo 250ie is way better than its predecessor. I think theres more storage and better performance - from memory.

Re: Scarabeo 250GT or Scarabeo 250ie

the scarabeo GT was the previous model scarabeo and is still sold in some parts due to its 16 inch wheel both ends. The GT has no storage under the seat and the top box on the rear of the scooter offers massive storage. The GT also i think from memory had the plastics around the front and some nice hand gaurds to deflect the wind , rain etc away from your hands. Nice little screen as well. The 250 GT was not fuel injected had an older style dash with analogue only intruments. You had the ability on the GT to run a full pannier system. These were hard cased lined panniers which gave you additional storage and could be pulled off like a case.

The GT250 is still being sold in this form by scootermarket in victoria because they believed in the concept that much that they invested and bought the rest from aprilia. The GT can still be regarded in my opinion as one of the best all round scooters on the market even at todays standards. The scooter just gives you so much touring/commuting potential.

The 250ie is the next step forward with a smaller rear wheel and hence a big storage space under the seat. Fuel injected of course and from the eye an all round nice looking scooter. Nice digital, analogue dash , handling and performance which its up again at the top of the tree. Could be seen maybe as a bit pricey after the vespa price drops but this is a different machine to a vespa. The 250i.e. is available in a nicer range of colours and in my opinion and far better looking then the GT.

the 250 ie can put a top box on the back which i dont really like or my fav the tunnel bag which sits between your legs. Probably a more comfortable seat on the 250ie and the whole package is just a step forward all round with switch gear, fit , finish etc.

Both machines have a linked brake set up as well.

Re: Scarabeo 250GT or Scarabeo 250ie

And i should say they both ride the roads as per what the scarabeo range stands for, big wheels  = give reassurance and exceptional handling . Ive always thought this from the scarabeo 50 up. The 250i.e certainly has more grunt then the 250GT and this is a seat of the pants thing as they look pretty close on paper .  You cant forget about the luggage options that the GT gives you ....as its one of the most commuter practical scooters around

    Mr V8:
am also comtemplating between Scarbeo 250ie and Sportcity 250ie.

Sportcity feels firmer & sportier than the Scarabeo which has a more laid back & "luxurious" feel to it. The Scarabeo has the better storage. Ride both & make your mind up from there.

Re: Scarabeo 250GT or Scarabeo 250ie

I have ridden the Sportcity and it was fast.  Will test ride the Scarabeo soon.

I am just after feedback if Scarabeo would be a good daily scooter in the urban city use as opposed to Sportcity.

Will the Scarabeo beat the traffic and off the light considering it is much heavier than Sportcity?

Feedback from Scarabeo 250 and Sportcity 250 owners would be great.

     Thanks.

I have heard that the 250ie has the same amount of power, but the electronic injection delivers the power better...

my mates 500ie is insane in power delivery, he has also put a new variator in and stuff... Steve from Ace took it out for a spin the other day, came in with a massive grin on his face... it was funny to see!

    Surprise

Are you sure it's stock standard? Mine struggled at anything over 90, but then it may well have been the rider struggling & not the bike. Certainly the LeGrande feels much safer, better balanced on the road, at higher speeds.

Re: Scarabeo 250GT or Scarabeo 250ie

Well.. i have checked the speedo, with the gps on my phone and with my mates scarabeo 500... it is pretty close to accurate, i am thinking it is about 115km/h that it is real life...

It might be modded, you would have to ask Rui... i bought it off of him, and Steve up at Ace seemed to know about my scooter, it is quite the beast!!  Anyways it goes quite well on the freeway, and now that i have done some mods to the screen i put on it is even better on the freeway, I have lost some top speed, down to around 116km/h but it is more stable now...  I love my Fly i must admit it is pretty special... my wife never wants to get rid of it!

I have ridden next to bunny bash on the freeway, and can confirm that his scoot will hit an indicated 115kph even with my 90 kg on it. And, 115kph on his 125 is pretty much an indicated 115 on my 500ie. But i win from the lightsBig Smile
