The Batmobile had its first service today (500kms) and also had a new speedo installed (wow, magically disappearing kms - clever scoot). Not sure if the speedo is working properly (or at least better than the old one) yet, will have to try & test it tomorrow - if it's not bucketing down & if I can convince one of my other 2- or 4-wheeler friends to ride/drive along next to me. I'm guessing from the cars zooming past me at the 80kph speed camera on my way back from the workshop that perhaps my speedo is still out...I was 'possibly' going about 90kph.
Anyhow, the main reason for the post is to re-confirm how much I like my scoot. I had a loaner for the day & apart from a seemingly smoother throttle and a dash clock (with the wrong time on it!), I liked everything else on it less (or far less) than my TGB.
- Pick-up from the lights, okay not great, not sure what that shuddering feeling was?
- Pick-up from 60 to 80kph slow - hello 4WD sitting right on top of me
- Above 80kph - forget it if you have a slight incline (really, I'm not that heavy).
It was a 125cc, but still, I thought it would perform better, especially as I have read many good reviews from people who ride the same scoot.
The seating position was terrible, sit in the wrong spot & have a bump up your a$$. Sit in the right spot & reach out and down for the levers - felt like Lurch! The seat was also sooo much wider than my TGB, so despite the scoot being a bit shorter than mine, I had to slide over to the left when I pulled up at the lights just to get my foot on the ground. Wasn't sure what all the light switches were for and couldn't find a kill-switch (don't think there was one). Finally, unlocking the seat didn't make the seat pop up & then the seat was prone to falling back down.
I ride a scooter, a scooter, a scooter.. Taiwan Golden Bee - yeah!
