    Piaggio MP3 250

I'm interested in this scooter. I'm 55 and haven't ridden a bike since my teens when we had a farm bike (Honda, if I remember rightly), and obviously 3 wheels are going to be more stable than 2.  I don't want to measure my legnth ont he road unless I have to!

    Some questions:

    1.  Is this OK for learners under NSW rules?

    2. How large is the storage capacity (I'm a semi-pro photographer, I need to carry my gear).

    3. What is the fuel consumption, and do scooters take ordinary unleaded?

And the last (slightly frivolous) question is why not in green?  I don't like any of the colours provided much.

    Hi Odille

I believe the MP3 250 would be quite ok under NSW learner rules

My Vespa GTS 250ie uses the same engine as the MP3 250 and I usually use Premium 95RON unleaded in it, I find I get engine knock if I use regular unleaded.

I like your question about colour,  I wish I knew why Piaggio (and Vespa) have such limited & often boring colours.

    cheers

A lot of scooters will run on ordinary (91RON) unleaded. Just check the details when looking around. The fuel comsumption of a scooter is definately less than a car so the extra cost of the premium fuel is not as noticable in the pocket. Although this depends on how hard you twist the throttle Stick out tongue

The uk based mp3 forum has a pic of a green mp3. One of the members got his mp3 sprayed and it looks god.

That's a lovely scooter you have there! Could you pretty please post either the photo or the link? I'm kind of getting lost in all the photos there. I could see this beast in Brittish Racing Green! Stick out tongue

I saw an ORANGE MP3 in Paris !!!!!

being on the opposite side of the world to the Piaggio factory sucks sometimes.

I was going to write a witty and clever comment here, then thought "naa screw it" -- I'm just gunna be a smart a$$.

The trouble with "exciting" colours is that hardly anyone buys them. Sad

But the final answer to your questions - the underseat space is awesome (two full face helmet size).  I expect you could keep a professional tripod under the seat.  Stick the topbox on and you could probably carry all your video equipment too.

You have got to ride the MP3! It's a total blast! The feeling I had riding the monster was similar to what I felt the first time I hopped on a rollercoaster - a rush of adrenalin with a tinge of fear... but it was AWESOME!
